To burn incense, light a bundle of incense at the tip and let it burn a little. Blow out the flame and gently sway the bundle back and forth. This creates an ember, which you keep alive with a light supply of air.
You can stick the bundle of incense in sand or let it burn out to extinguish it.
After smoking, the room should be well ventilated.
To be on the safe side, use a fireproof bowl or plate to catch ashes and take at least five minutes to concentrate on the ritual before and after burning incense.
One bundle can be used about 30 times.
