Mint – Cool clarity and the breath of antiquity

There's that moment when you rub a mint leaf between your fingers: a sharp, cool scent rises, instantly clearing your head. Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) is nature's ultimate freshness kick.

In Fartàritx, where the summer sun heats up the stones, mint is a blessing. It is a paradoxical miracle: it stores the sun's energy and returns it to us in the form of cooling menthol.

A 5,000-year journey

The history of mint reads like a "Who's Who" of antiquity.

  • Egypt: As early as 5,000 years ago, archaeologists found dried mint leaves in burial chambers. It was considered a burial offering for the journey to the afterlife and is even said to have been part of Cleopatra's beauty rituals.
  • Greece & Rome: Philosophers such as Pliny and Dioscorides prescribed it for almost everything. The Romans loved it so much that they rubbed mint on their banquet tables to stimulate the appetite and provide a pleasant scent.
  • Morocco: To this day, the tea ceremony with fresh mint is the highest sign of hospitality in North Africa—a ritual that brings people together and makes time stand still for a moment.
  • Cooling down for the body

In medicine, mint is primarily known for its antispasmodic and cooling effects.

  • Cool head (for headaches & migraines): Mint essential oil is like natural air conditioning for the head. Applied to the temples or neck, the menthol blocks pain receptors and relaxes the muscles. For tension headaches, it is often as effective as a tablet—but completely natural.
  • Good gut feeling: After a heavy meal, mint tea is not only a tradition but also medicine. The oils relax the gastrointestinal muscles, relieve cramps, and dispel feelings of fullness.
  • Breathe freely: When you have a stubborn cold, menthol acts like a "door opener" for the bronchial tubes. It loosens mucus, cools the irritated airways, and allows us to breathe deeply again.

Freshness for the soul

Mint is also a mental stimulant. In aromatherapy, we use its scent to dispel fatigue and sharpen concentration. It is the perfect companion when you need to focus or want to reduce stress.

Our mint grows under extreme conditions on Fartàritx. This gives it a fragrance that is not sweet, but intense and wild—just the way we like it.
